Photo May 21, 5 53 41 PMFaith Apostolic Church is the fruit of the vision and dream of the late David Ball to establish an Apostolic church in the Carmel, Indiana area. David Ball served as the assistant pastor at Full Gospel Tabernacle in Kokomo, Indiana in the 1970s. He was also a prominent attorney in Kokomo. In the late seventies, he and his wife, Kathy, felt a growing burden and call of God to start a church in Carmel. At the time, there was not an Apostolic church in Carmel nor the surrounding area. They bought a piece of land with a house and abandoned dog kennel on it. They remodeled the dog kennel into a small church that would seat about 50 people. Three other families, who were also connected to Full Gospel Tabernacle, partnered with the Ball family to found Faith Apostolic Church in January of 1979. The church-planting team was comprised of David and Kathy Ball and their two children, Matthew and Michael, as well as the Turner, Oliver and Hansen families. At the first service in January of 1979, there were eight adults and ten children. They were joined in 1981 by the Ball’s third child, Rachael.

Faith Apostolic grew steadily and, by 1983, were at full capacity in the small church building. InFAC Choir mid 90's 1987, they moved into a brand new, larger building on the same property. The church continued to grow under the leadership of Pastor David Ball. In 1996, David Ball’s oldest son, Matthew, and his wife, Jamie, who were evangelizing around the country, returned to Carmel. They came back to Faith Apostolic Church to assist David Ball with church responsibilities, while he was battling cancer. Sadly, David Ball passed away on October 13th, 1997, at which time Easter 94Matthew Ball became senior pastor. The church was grieved, but felt a peace knowing that David’s son, Matthew, was taking over the pastorate of the church.

Since then, the church has continued to grow under the leadership of Matthew and Jamie Ball. New staff has been added to accommodate and prepare for growth. A new addition to the church was built in 2001. The church was expanded again in 2005 to make room for continued growth.

In 2010, FAC established a second campus in Sheridan, Indiana, to accommodate growth andsheridan campus service IMG_1934reach into a new community. When the second campus was first launched, services were held at the Sheridan Middle School auditorium. In April of 2011, services were moved to the Sheridan Church of God. In that month, we also purchased our own facility and promptly began the remodeling process. In March of 2012, we moved into our very own, newly remodeled building right in the heart of Sheridan. Our Sheridan campus continues to grow and impact families in Sheridan and Northwest Hamilton County.

Its current staff includes Senior Pastor Matthew Ball and wife Jamie, Administrative Pastor, Josh Wilson and his wife, Shelly, who is the worship leader and treasurer, secretary, Leah Wirkkala, and janitorial staff, Roger Mann.

God has blessed Faith Apostolic Church greatly. Since its beginning, the church has experienced a great move of God’s Spirit and has witnessed countless lives being changed by the power of Jesus Christ. As great as our history is, however, we believe the greatest days still lay ahead.
